Słowacki Theatre in Cracow

Słowacki Theatre is one of the most popular and well known places in Krakow. It’s functioning continuously since it’s foundation in 1893. It is one of the most prominent and most commonly known stages in Poland.

The edifice was built by Jan Zawiejski and it is perceived as one of the most valuable theatre monuments in Europe. On the fronton there is an inscription that says “Krakow narodowej sztuce” and it means like “Krakow for the national art”. The Auschwitz Camp

The Auschwitz camp was set up by the Germans in 1940, in the suburbs of Oświęcim, as incorporated by the Nazis to the Third Reich. Auschwitz has become a symbol of terror, genocide and the Holocaust.
The immediate reason for the establishment of the camp was the growing number of mass arrests of Poles and overcrowding of the existing prisons. Initially it was supposed to be another of the concentration camps set up by the Nazis from the early thirties. This function Auschwitz served throughout the period of its existence. Continue reading
